## What We Do

2389 Research is a Chicago-based lab that builds AI agent infrastructure, developer tools, and applied research. We ship products, write about what we find, and open-source what we can.

We work with teams who want to put AI agents to work — not as demos, but as real tools that ship.

### AI Agent Development

We design and build agent systems that handle real workflows: code generation pipelines, document processing, multi-agent coordination, and human-in-the-loop orchestration.

### Dark Factory Development

We build headless software factories — pipeline runners where agents do the coding, testing, and shipping while humans focus on specs and review. Multiple independent implementations of the same architecture, converging on DOT-graph pipeline definitions that make agent workflows inspectable and repeatable. Lights-off development, where the interesting artifact isn't the code — it's the pipeline graph.

### Tool Building

CLI tools, MCP servers, Claude Code skills, browser automation — we build the connective tissue between AI models and the work people actually do.

### Research

We publish what we learn. Our blog covers experiments in progress, and our products grow directly from research findings.
